Batwing Dress Tutorial

Batwing tops are the easiest long sleeve garments to sew in my books, because the body and the sleeve are all one piece. They’re also super versatile.  Do it without leggings for a night on the town, or with leggings for a less scandalous daytime look. And not to toot my own horn, but the result looks pretty darn professional!

I’ve gotta give my stepmom credit for the look’s inspiration. She’s always classy in all-black-errythang, and has a bunch of lovely batwing tops in her wardrobe. Not to mention, the shoes and jewelery are her awesome handmedowns!

Heh, my knees are all banged up from kneeling on the floor making patterns and cutting fabric all morning. Gross :Pbatwing3png

And now the best part, the tutorial for making your very own bootilicious boatneck bat dress! The way the measurements are written, you can custom fit the dress to your own size – and of course you can make the sleeves longer or shorter, turn the skirt into a simple waistband, drop the neckline, ect, ect, ect.

So let me know what you think! What would you do differently? How would you style it?

And if you can manage this dress, then you definitely have the skills to make yourself a fine pair of harem pants  (another tutorial of mine…shameless self promotion ;))

Anyways, thank you so much for visiting the mollytov. I love getting everybody’s feedback!
